Mike's themes

These are my themes for this week. My theme as you can see is the great outdoors. The frist, second, 4th pictures are behind my house, 3rd is on my way to work, and the 5th one is looking up a tree.

These are my series pictures of the Orleans river. I went a couple of days so I could watch how the water opened up with all the nice weather we were having. When I was taking these pictures I tried to use thirds and by making the audience look through the pictures.

rhinestone ash trays and other bedroom odditys

This series is inspired by the movie Amelie and the lack of nice weather in the NEK. These pictures are of objects around my room and they all vary in size. Some are quite large while others are relatively small. The objects are a beautiful necklace, a funky lamp, a lovely fan, a triptych, and a really fancy ash tray. It's got a poodle on it. Be jealous.

NEK Fresh Air

The first one is taken in Newport. It is a view of Lake Memph. and the Ice Shacks that at still on it. The next one is, Mudd, which I too a picture of because i love mudd! Than there is a picture I took while on the highway going toward Newport. It is the perfect "3's", you have the sky the trees and the guard rails. Next is a picture take outside the Waterfront Plaza looking toward the Eastside, i loved how you could see the reflection in the puddles of the trees. And lastly there is a picture of two snow woman, me and my niece made. One is her (the one in the back ground) and the one in front is her mother. These 5 pictures are my series because they all have to do with being outside, and remind me of fresh air.

Jodi's Series

I did family photo's for my series this week. I really enjoyed it. I had 4 other families lined up for last wednesday but as we all know the weather didn't pan out for me but I got these shots done earlier in the week and I think they came out pretty good. I used a neighbors photo lights in these photo's and I really like how they worked out it was night at the time I look theses.

The Pig Shot - my favorite shot from Melanie's yard.

This is my favorite shot from Malanie's yard. When I entered the pen that this wonderful little creature shares with a slew of goats, I didn't even know it was there. He had burrowed his way down into a bale of hay and covered himself completely. Imagine my surprise when the hay started grunting! I loved this shot right from the start and I didn't want to change a thing about it - that being said, the only manipulation made using Photoshop was to remove the cyan and blue from the natural light of the day.

Melanie's Animals...

My aunt Melanie LOVES animals. She has shared her love of animals with my nieces and nephew and was gracious enough to spend some time with me on a cold winter day to capture these shots. These pictures are a combination of some of the animals from both households. They are all outdoor shots so I manipulated the levels and color balance in PhotoShop to remove some of the blue and cyan from the natural light. I also cropped some, used the blur tool on others and did some erasing.
