Winter 2010

In these shots, I tried to concentrate on the Rule of Thirds. This was a new concept for me.
The shot of the winter walk follows the rule of thirds. I cropped the shot to make it do so and found that it gave the picture more personality and made it more interesting to look at. This is one of my favorite pictures.
The Winter Mailbox doesn't really follow the rule of thirds but it works, I believe due to the balance and flow of the reds throughout the shot.
Tatum, at the mountain, didn't really adhere to the two-thirds rule. She is centered squarely on the page, but somehow, it works for me. Her bright personality shines through and this picture makes me smile.
The two pugs really fell into the two-thirds rule, with Hope's face falling on the bottom left third of the screen and Phoebe on the top right third. I think this gave the shot nice balance.
In the flag picture, which was taken hanging out a third story window, I knew that I wanted the flag to be on the top third of the shot. Doing this, I decided that centering the flag horizontally would be okay, as the pole compensates by it's position in the left third of the field.
